Lauren Clinton Interview - March 12, 2007

Juan Guerra: Hi Lauren! Thank you for doing this! What are you up to now? Any new projects?

Lauren Clinton: I'm actually looking at a few projects right now, but nothing I can talk about yet. I am also focusing on my singing. I have been spending time writing new material. My performing career started with singing. It's good to get back to my first love in performing arts... music.

Juan Guerra: You played Janice Avery in "Bridge to Terabithia." What made you want to choose this role? What attracted you to this?

Lauren Clinton: I thought Janice was a very intriguing character with so many different layers. I loved the fact that she wasn't bullying people just for the sake of being mean. It was deeper than that. She was mean because her father was cruel to her. He had a great influence over her, as most parents do.

Juan Guerra: By the end of the movie Leslie caused a huge change in almost everyone including your character. Do you believe it had to happen to give people a second chance just like it happened to Janice Avery?

Lauren Clinton: I don't think Leslie's death had to happen to give Janice Avery a second chance. Janice was already starting to befriend Leslie because Leslie had the courage to approach Janice in the bathroom and give her advice when she was upset. I don't think anyone had ever been nice to Janice before. You could see the transformation of Janice as the Giant Troll in Terabithia. She helped Jess when he fell out of the tree house. Leslie had a magic about her that made others want to be better people.

Juan Guerra: In your own Terabithia, what kind of world would you create and why?

Lauren Clinton: In my own Terabithia, I would make it so I would have complete independence, without anyone telling me what I need to do. I would want to be free to do my own thing.

Juan Guerra: What was your experience working on "Bridge to Terabithia"?

Lauren Clinton: Working on Bridge... was an amazing experience! I was able to meet some really great people from the cast and crew. I also got to live in, and travel a foreign country- New Zealand. I am still close with some of the people I worked with on the film. It was hard to be mean to the other actors on the set since we were all friends.

Juan Guerra: Did you get to keep anything cool from the movie?

Lauren Clinton: Nothing materialistic, just some great friends and special memories. Oh yeah, and hundreds of pictures.

Juan Guerra: If Hollywood asked you to play a Hollywood actress legend, who would it be and why would you portray her?

Lauren Clinton: I would love to play Judy Garland. Both she and I share a love for singing and acting. She was very outgoing, and a little bit eccentric, just like me. I respect how much she accomplished in her career.

Juan Guerra: What do you do for fun? what are your hobbies when you're not acting?

Lauren Clinton: You can usually find me on the phone or IMing my friends. I love to swim, and snowboard. Most of the things I do when I am not acting are very low key and centered around spending time with my family and friends. I also love to travel. I have been fortunate to have traveled to many different countries.

Juan Guerra: Who is the one actor you really, madly want to work with and why?

Lauren Clinton: I would love to work with Steve Carell someday. He has such great comedic timing. If I had to choose a favorite style of acting, it would be comedy. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to work with Steve Carell. It would be an honor, and a blast.

Juan Guerra: What is your ultimate goal in the acting business?

Lauren Clinton: If I could continue to work doing what I love to do everyday for fun and make memorable films that people love, that ultimately become classics to enjoy for years, and years, that would be my ultimate goal.
